About Me

jan 2 2015

I’m 30,and I live in Todd, North Carolina. I have a cat, Lovey, who has been my companion for about ten years. She is a sweetheart who loves to cuddle, curl up around my feet, and make it impossible for me to go to sleep by stealing one of my pillows for herself.

I published my first novel at 15 and I’ve been writing ever since. I owe that novel to Nanowrimo, a 30-day writing challenge to write 50,000 words. Because of that, I stepped up as the Boone, North Carolina, Municipal Liaison for the non-profit organization (Nanowrimo, at one point known as the Office of Letters and Light) in 2012, and I will continue to act as the ML for the region as long as I can.

In 2013, I published another novel I wrote during Nanowrimo, and did so via Smashwords. As a self-published author, I believe that Smashwords is a much better platform than CreateSpace or Lulu, and I will continue to use Smashwords in the future.

I began attending Caldwell Community College in the summer of 2014, and I obtained my Associate of Arts Degree in May 2016. I am currently enrolled at Appalachian State University where I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Leadership Studies.

Quirky Facts (Or the important stuff!)

I’m a Sagittarius – my birthday is November 27th. For those who understand astrology-based things, here’s a quick breakdown.

  • Sun in Sagittarius in 8th house
  • Moon in Pisces in 12th house
  • Ascendant in Aries
  • Mercury in Scorpio in 8th house
  • Venus in Sagittarius in 9th house
  • Mars in Scorpio in 7th house
  • Jupiter in Aries in 1st house
  • Saturn in Sagittarius in 9th house
  • Uranus in Sagittarius in 9th house
  • Neptune in Capricorn in 10th house
  • Pluto in Scorpio in 7th house
  • Elements: 7 fire, 5 water, 2 earth, 0 air
  • Qualities: 5 cardinal, 3 fixed, 5 mutable

And yes, I do consider astrology a valid method of personality interpretation because, as you can see, it is much more complex than “What’s your sun sign?”

For those who don’t “buy in” to astrology, my MBTI type is ENTP (and yes, I took an official version of the test, not just an online version). I don’t fully “buy in” to MBTI typology, but I respect those who do. And, for the most part, ENTP loosely fits. I’ve also done True Colors, and I rank Orange > Green > Blue > Gold with Orange/Green basically tied.

I’m Pagan – I primarily work with the Norse deities within a mostly Asatru-based framework, but I also engage in shamanic and druidic practices and am also open to working with deities outside of the Norse pantheon. I’m a polytheist, pantheist, and animist. That covers my basic spiritual framework, which, in a word, is complex.

I’m a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and I identify as agender (I use she/her/hers pronouns), and I am both pansexual/panromantic. Being agender means I don’t identify as any particular gender – male, female, or other non-binary genders such as trans, demigirl/guy, gender fluid, etc. Being pansexual means that I am capable of being physically attracted to any and all genders that exist. On one hand, you can say that I am partially gender-blind because my attraction to a person has nothing to do with their gender. On the other hand, I appreciate all genders because I realize the intrinsic value in self-identity and respect others who choose to identify with a particular gender, binary or non-binary. Being panromantic means that I am capable of developing romantic attachments – read, emotional – to someone regardless of their gender identity.

My favorite colors are royal purple and metallic silver.

I have two metal rods in my right leg due to a car accident I was in when I was 18 (one rod in my femur, the other in my tibia), and I had my gallbladder removed when I was 22.

The only branch of science (or academics in general) that I despise is biology. I don’t know why, but I don’t like it at all.

I dislike avocados, but I love spinach – in fact, I prefer it to lettuce.

My favorite foods are buffalo wings, pepperoni pizza, and macaroni and cheese. Also, sushi.

My staple genres are epic fantasy, suspense (not crime!), and YA – for novels. Some of my favorite authors: Patrick Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, Brent Weeks, Mercedes Lackey, James Patterson, Robin Cook, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Anne Rice, Terry Goodkind, Neil Gaiman, Tamora Pierce, Susan Cooper, John Marsden, J.K. Rowling, Jonathan Mayberry, Diane Duane, etc.

Some of my favorite t.v. shows include Doctor Who, House, Dexter, Stargate Atlantis, the X-files, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

I watch more anime than I do regular television – I’ve seen nearly 200 anime in the past 10 years. Some of the top shows I’ve seen include Code Geass, Sword Art Online, Rurouni Kenshin, Death Note, Chrome Shelled Regios, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Black Prince and Wolf Girl.

Musically, I prefer alternative rock, though I do like some hard rock and (occasionally) rap. Favorite artists include The Script, Shinedown, Nickelback, Katy Perry, Goo Goo Dolls, Linkin Park, All-American Rejects, and Poets of the Fall. I also listen to some punk, some electronica, some country… I tend to prefer songs for their lyrics rather than for their sounds, although I tend to dislike screamo of any genre, and the instrumentals and the vocals need to be well-harmonized – I dislike discordant music.
